Waxing is a method of semi-permanent hair removal which removes the hair from the root. New hairs will not grow back in the previously waxed area for two to eight weeks. Almost any area of the body can be waxed, including eyebrows, upper lip, bikini area, legs, arms\underarms, back, abdomen and feet.

Waxing is an effective method of removing large amounts of hair at one time.

Hot wax

In this method wax is warmed to allow it to be spread easily over the skin in the direction of hair growth. The hair becomes embedded in the wax, which cools and firms up grasping the hair. The wax is then quickly pulled off in the opposite direction of the hair growth, pulling the hairs out of the follicles.

Cold wax

Cold waxes are available usually attached to strips, which are patted onto the skin. Wax that is still left on the skin must be peeled or scratched off. This waxing method is very beneficial to people who have sensitive skin.

Benefits of waxing versus other forms of hair removal:

  • Long lasting. Hair in areas waxed will not grow back from three to eight weeks. When hair does grow back, it is soft and not coarse like shaved hair.
  • Waxing will not increase the growth of the hair.
  • When the hair is shaved or removed by depilatory cream, the hair is removed at the surface. Within a few days, the hair can be seen at the surface and the stubble can be felt.
